Let me be clear. I am for peace, and I support any step toward the peace process, because innocent people are paying the price. The concept of a clash of civilizations became more popular, as well as more controversial, after 9/11. Samuel Huntington introduced the phrase “clash of civilizations” in 1993 in an article in the Journal of Foreign Affairs. Since then many scholars have spoken about the war on terror as a sign of a possible conflict between the West and the Islamic world.
